This session will show instructors how to use built-in accessibility checkers in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat to find and fix common accessibility issues. Please bring a laptop and a document to work on. Register here.

LaTeX-generated PDFs, especially those with complex math, have traditionally been hard to make accessible. However, recent updates to the LaTeX kernel have made it possible to make most standard documents more accessible for students with vision-related disabilities. As of April 2026, updated Title II requirements make this type of accessibility improvement mandatory for our materials.

During this workshop, we'll explore how accessible documents benefit all students, discuss some basic examples, and then learn how to enable the new features. 

This is an interactive workshop with active work time built in to experiment with new features. Participants should ensure they bring a laptop with an updated (2025 TeXLive or fully up-to-date MikTeX) local installation of LaTeX during the session.

This session will help faculty and TAs learn to create high quality Alt Text to make images accessible. We'll explore ways to leverage AI tools and prompting frameworks to make alt text creation quicker and easier than ever. Register for the workshop.

We'll start with a short overview of what the standards really mean for everyday teaching: when you need captions, when a transcript is enough, and how to handle highly visual or live content. Then we'll move into a guided demo and hands-on time, focusing on easy wins like checking and cleaning up captions, adding simple media descriptions, and creating usable transcripts for audio.
